Cartier Ballon Bleu 42mm Automatic (Reference: W69012Z4), enhanced with an aftermarket or custom factory-style diamond bezel and paired with a black alligator leather strap.
- Collection Launch: The Ballon Bleu de Cartier collection made its debut in 2007, introducing a round, pebble-like geometric profile that disrupted traditional watch shapes.
- Model Context: The 42mm size variation (Ref. W69012Z4) has been a staple of the permanent collection since the early years of the line, popularizing the signature circular architecture for men's and unisex luxury dress wear.
Design & Technical Specifications
- The "Floating" Crown: The defining design hallmark is the integrated crown guard. The case loops completely over the winding crown to protect the synthetic blue spinel. This structure causes the Roman numeral "III" to distort and curve inward, isolating the date wheel.
- Convex Ergonomics: The case is shaped like a smooth, rounded river stone. Both the sapphire crystal face and the case back are subtly domed, allowing the 42mm profile to sit close and comfortable on the wrist despite its wide diameter.
- Bezel Detail: While the standard factory model features a smooth polished steel bezel, this specific piece showcases an integrated double-row diamond setting, adding a fine jewelry aesthetic to the horological design.
